Dec. 10 Free Stuff Friday Winner: Debbie Powers!

Debbie Powers won Friday's contest, meaning that in addition to her order she receives a free copy signed by Anthony Atkinson himself. Congratulations, Debbie!

Make sure to make plans for this coming Saturday.

(From the official press release)

Harlem Globetrotter and Wilson hometown hero Anthony "Ant" Atkinson, the subject of a new book, "The Edge of Legend," will be at Dick's Hot Dogs in Wilson from 12:30-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, to talk to the public. Brandon Sneed, the book's author, will also appear. Both will sign copies of the book.

"The Edge of Legend" chronicles Atkinson's heartrending and inspirational journey from childhood to international basketball ic on. Edge is about an incredible story of faith and basketball, but it's also about a son and his father, generational curses and broken dreams, and a relentless pursuit of redemption.

This will be the last chance before Christmas to get your signed copy of Edge, which, let’s face it, could not be a more perfect Christmas gift or stocking stuffer. Copies will be available at Dick’s for $15 each. They are also available in various independent bookstores and online at EdgeOfLegend.com and on Amazon.

For a time, everyone knew who Atkinson was. He became the most celebrated Division II basketball player ever when he led a torrid comeback for Barton College against Winona State University in the 2007 national championship. Atkinson’s performance became a YouTube sensation, was the runner-up in the Best Finish category at the 2007 ESPY Awards and ranked second on the list of Best Storybook Endings in the last 25 years by NCAA Champion Magazine.
