Intro

I'm Brandon Sneed. I wrote the book The Edge of Legend, I'm a journalist for GQ, ESPN The Magazine, and ESPN.com, and I edit HeyGoodCall.com

I live for great stories—finding them, telling them, living them. This is a running log of all that. It's a great life. (Read this, my short take on why stories are all that matter.)

Edge of Legend a perfect "Gift Idea for Your Sports Fan"

Special thanks this morning to Paul Durham, sports editor for The Wilson Times. He recommended The Edge of Legend as his number one gift for sports fans in his column this week. Here's what he had to say about it:

Gift ideas for your favorite sports fan

If you haven't finished your Christmas shopping yet, you're probably not alone so allow me to make a few suggestions for the sports fans on your list.

There are five books of interest to local sports fans ... that might be the perfect present.

EDGE OF LEGEND

Brandon Sneed, a Barton College graduate and former Bulldog baseball player, just released this definitive biography of former Barton basketball star Anthony "Ant" Atkinson.

The book chronicles Atkinson's rise as a youth star in Wilson, playing at the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club through his time at Beddingfield High and Greenfield School, which he helped win two N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A championships.

But the focus is on Atkinson's senior season, which still seems surreal as it culminated in the diminutive guard outscoring Winona State 10-2 in the final minute of the Div. II championship game.

Sneed takes the reader on Atkinson's journey of faith, redemption and the miracle ending which will forever be among the greatest moments in Wilson sports history.

As an added bonus, Atkinson, currently a member of the Harlem Globetrotters, will appear with the author at a book-signing Saturday at Dick's Hot Dog Stand from 12:30-3 p.m. ...

Hopefully, all that snow I see is falling in Wilson won't wreck anyone's plans to come out on Saturday. For more info about the book signing, check this out

And just for fun, here's the book trailer:

Side notes: And yes ... I know I'm blogging like crap lately. I'd tell you how busy I am, but that would take too long. Yeah, I'm that busy. But there are some pretty massive things in the works right now, career-wise, so I'm kind of needing to prioritize. I'm planning to return to blogging full force once the end of the year gets past us.

I do miss you guys, though. You're some great readers, and I'm looking forward to getting back to blogging soon.
