Intro

I'm Brandon Sneed. I wrote the book The Edge of Legend, I'm a journalist for GQ, ESPN The Magazine, and ESPN.com, and I edit HeyGoodCall.com

I live for great stories—finding them, telling them, living them. This is a running log of all that. It's a great life. (Read this, my short take on why stories are all that matter.)

Triathlon training update - the day after

This is gonna be quick because I have a lot of work to do today (lunch meetings, interview transcriptions, columns to write, profiles to write, and on and on) and am still feeling a bit wiped out from yesterday's triathlon, but I knew I owed you all something.

First off, I had no idea it would wipe me out like this. I figured, OK, one hour working out, right? I've gone for two-and-a-half with this crew.

Yeah. Right.

I'll elaborate more when I have more time. Maybe tonight. Maybe tomorrow morning.

But I'll go ahead and say this: I had a blast and am completely happy with how things went. I'm looking into options to keep me going in triathlon. I can't afford to do it just to do it, monetarily or time-wise, but if I can connect it to a bigger cause, that'll make it much easier for me and my wife.

I'll elaborate more on that later, too.

But yeah, it was fun. It was great. My time was 1:13.46. My real goal was 1:15 or less. So I'm stoked about that.

Check back tonight and tomorrow. I'll have some more details and lots of pictures of me choking on water and stumbling off bikes and being amazingly photogenic and stuff, so it'll be lots of fun for everyone.
