Welcome

I'm Brandon Sneed. This is my blog. It's basically an online notebook where I highlight good writing, storytelling, journalism and other acts of creativity, and explore how such things are made.

I'm an author and journalist who writes about people, sports, science, nature, and more. I love learning, adventures, life, and stories. I've covered everything from a guy who played Division I basketball while battling cancer ... to golf courses that eat golfers ... to turkey vultures invading a town. Lil' bro Kramer to sign with the Yankees tonight

Just got off the phone with Kramer, my younger brother who pitches--well, now, I guess used to pitch--for Barton College and the Wilson Tobs. Dude's signing a contract with the Yankees tonight. He'll start pitching for Staten Island sometime later this week.

So awesome, so surreal. So freakin' great.

Now, I know that lots of you think the dude's a huge stud. And, well, I guess he sorta is now. Throwing 91-93 mph on the corners at the knees, with two dirty off-speed pitches -- yeah, that's studly.

But before he was a stud, he (at right in the picture below) looked like this:

(And yeah, that's me to the left.)

Congrats, bro. Heck of an adventure ahead of you. Can't wait to see how it plays out.

hahahaha I love that picture :)

I didn't realize he was starting so soon and up there. Single A is pretty sweet then.. so I guess he's not going to start in a short season league?

Also.. we need to start putting money away, so we can afford to go see... NY (and I suppose see Kramer pitch)

Yeah, they're starting him right into A ball.

Hey congrats. Even though I live just a little bit away from the S.I. stadium, I've never been. Good luck to Kramer. And Btw, here's a profile on him from a Yankee fan site.
