Intro

I'm Brandon Sneed. I wrote the book The Edge of Legend, I'm a journalist for GQ, ESPN The Magazine, and ESPN.com, and I edit HeyGoodCall.com

I live for great stories—finding them, telling them, living them. This is a running log of all that. It's a great life. (Read this, my short take on why stories are all that matter.)

Announcing EdgeOfLegend.com - The official website for my book about Ant Atkinson

Get ready, people. Shameless self-promotion is about to start in full swing.

The official website for the book launched this morning. Check it out here or by clicking the screenshot of the homepage, below. Katie did a brilliant job designing the thing. Man, she's good.

The website features the first excerpt from the book, which is terrifying for me, but (hopefully) exciting for you.

The book will be available for pre-order through the website this Wednesday, Aug. 18.

So please, tell your friends. Retweet this post. Got the shortlink for you right here: http://bit.ly/baeRQn

In case you don't know anything about the book, here's a basic rundown from the site:

THE EDGE OF LEGEND explores the story behind the most breathtaking national championship comeback in college basketball history, unearthing a spine-tingling saga of redemption from the unknown world of Division II basketball and the life of Harlem Globetrotter fan favorite Anthony “Ant” Atkinson.

As a boy, Ant worked so hard at the game that sometimes, soaked with sweat, he bled and wept, only for his father push him harder. One day, he said, “But Daddy, you always say God will help me.”

His father replied, “You’re exactly right. But at some point in time, it’s like taking a test. The longer you study for a test, the more the teacher can help you understand the answers. But when you have to take the test, you’re on your own…God’s going to be with you always…but you’ve got to be able to do some things on your own.”

His whole life, Ant worked his hardest. But, as we all do, he failed some tests. More than once, his career, his dream, faced death, but somehow, he always found a way through.

Along the way, Ant brushed with the likes of LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Paul, and Rajon Rondo, those seemingly destined to become legends of basketball.

Ant's story didn't play out like the others', like he and everyone who knew him expected. But his life became something greater than what he once dreamed.

The book's been endorsed by everyone from New York Times bestselling authors to professional Christian book reviewers to folks from the Wilson area who know the story as well as anyone.

It's been on heck of a journey. I'll try to blog more about that over the next month, if I can find the time. But the book really has come together beautifully, and I can't wait for you to read it.
