I'm Brandon Sneed. I wrote the book The Edge of Legend, I'm a journalist for GQ, ESPN The Magazine, and ESPN.com, and I edit HeyGoodCall.com

I live for great stories—finding them, telling them, living them. This is a running log of all that. It's a great life. (Read this, my short take on why stories are all that matter.)

How far would the God of the universe go for His children? Guest post by Karen Sneed, All Jesus Ministries

My mom and my brother, KramerMy mom, whose name is Karen, has for decades been leading the nonprofit Jesus-loving organization called All Jesus Ministries. She loves God as much as anyone I know. Both my parents do. I can't imagine a couple who prays more about life decisions than they do. Frustrated the crap out of me as a kid. Makes me overwhelmingly grateful now.

Anyway, Mom puts out a monthly email newsletter for AJM, and in it she always includes, among other things, a brief devotional.

This is the one from her September newsletter.

As many of you know -- and many of you don't -- my younger brother Kramer was drafted by the New York Yankees earlier this summer. He's bounced between their Single-A minor league teams in Staten Island and Tampa, and mom, being the unbelievable fan she is, has been traveling nonstop to support him.

Here's somes thought she had inspired by all that. (Please forgive all the exclamation points -- she likes to make sure people know she's happy when they read her!!!)

SEPTEMBER DEVOTIONAL:  TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH

In the past two weeks I have driven over 3500 miles through 9 different states, paid multiple tolls, eaten significant amounts of fast food, explored many ball parks, unintentionally annoyed many fellow drivers and survived unimaginable traffic!  Though at times it was stressful, tearful, and tiresome, if asked to do it all again I would not hesitate.  Why? Because it was all for my children.  It was a chance to see them, support them, bless them, help them, cheer for them, enjoy them and just be with them.

I won’t bore you with the details, but I will challenge you with a thought…if one insignificant North Carolina mom is willing to go 3500 miles for her children, how far do you think the God of the universe will go for you?  For all of His children?

In Isaiah 49:6, a prophecy is recorded about Jesus, saying, “I will also make You a light for the Gentiles, that You may bring My salvation to the ends of the earth."  There is your answer.  God will go to the ends of the earth for you!  In fact, when Jesus died on the cross and rose again, He DID go to the ends of the earth for you!  Why?  Because He wants to see you, support you, bless you, help you, cheer for you, enjoy you and just be with you!!!!

Would you take time today and every day to enjoy the God who goes “to the ends of the earth” for you!?  He loves you!!!

I knew when I opened Our State magazine, Dec, that you had to be Brandon Sneed, son of Karen and WIll from Jarvis UMC in Greenville. I had to do a little searching, but there Karen is, the happy Mom.
