The Blog will return on Jan. 10

Blogs are like auditoriums. The author walks on stage and if he has something interesting to say or share or perform, the seats will fill.
And if that's true, then this auditorium has long since emptied.
Not that I blame you. I disappeared for a couple of weeks, with no explanation, no updates, no nothing. Except for a little bragging about what others had said about my book. Go me. Quite the entertainer.
I've been thinking much about blogging. About my performance on a stage. I'm not the most comfortable with the idea of blogging, because I think I'm uncomfortable with bringing attention to myself. But really, my performances—the stories I write and the thoughts I share—aren't about me at all, but about something bigger. In my writing and reporting, I am exploring, searching for things, digging through others' lives and through history and through society, both present and past (and maybe even future), seeking treasure.
Like an archeologist of life, I search.
This blog is where I want to begin sharing some of the things I've found.
Besides, being a writer, I'd be a fool not to take advantage of what blogging offers these days. So I'm dedicating myself to blogging again. I don't like calling myself a blogger. But lots of writers I admire also call themselves bloggers. Like much of the rest of life, blogging is what you make it.
So starting on Jan. 10, I'll be posting about two to three times a week here. And, starting on Jan. 17, I'll be posting two to three times a week, additionally, in The Lighthouse Project.
Yes, TLP is coming back.
So stick around. Help me fill these seats. But don't just sit around, waiting. Do some digging of your own. See what you can find. And if you find something shiny, some jewel or relic you wish to share, let me know.
See you soon.
