GoodSports: Boston Red Six icon David "Big Papi" Ortiz Hugging Strangers in NYC

Today's dose of sporty goodness comes from David Ortiz, the world-class slugger and human being on the Boston Red Sox, who earlier this month took to the streets of Manhattan to hug strangers. If you're not a baseball nut, you should know that the New York Yankees and the residents of their fair city very much loathe the Boston Red Sox and all affiliated therewith. Alec Baldwin (Yankees fan) and John Krasinski (BoSox fan) display this excellently in their ads for New Era.

So for David Ortiz to go about the streets of Manhattan hugging strangers was not only a dazzling display of courage, but downright pleasant to witness.

And regardless of team affiliation, I think we can all agree that the world would be a much better place if we all just randomly hugged strangers.

Actually, don't do that—you'll probably get sued by someone for sexual harrassment. But you see where I'm trying to go with this at least, don't you?

I think he is trying to get traded to a real team! The Yankees.
And yeah, I know the Red Sox just swept the weekend series but the Playoffs and World Series will belong to us!
Seriously, Big Papi is a good man.
