I live for great stories—finding them, telling them, living them. This is a running log of all that. It's a great life. (Read this, my short take on why stories are all that matter.)

[Smoking] Today's Reason to Kill Smoking

Once again, science bequeaths us the knowledge that smokers are not only killing themselves, but screwing up everyone else's lives, too.

Got a kid? Got kids who have friends? Smoke around them? Not only are you quite likely offering them the wondrous gift of lung cancer, but you're also helping them go through their shortened lives half-deaf. Go, you.

So now, if your secondhand smoking kid gives you trouble and you scream at him/her/it "Why don't you ever LISTEN TO ME!?", well, now you know.

It's because they can't hear you because you've smoked their ears full of deafness.

[ Standard disclaimer: If you smoke, I love you just the same as I love anybody else. Don't go taking this all personal and junk. Okay, carry on. Happy Thursday. ]
